I "think" it might by Amenia of Chronic Disease but might be Iron Deficiency Anemia instead & it sounds like treatment is different for each. It's gotten so that I cannot exercise at all - walking down my driveway for the morning paper seems like a 5 mile run - & the lack of exercis is just making all of my autoimmune and inflammatory problems worse so I'm ready to try just about anything to get back to my version of normal. Wanting to cry all the time over nothing (went away as my numbers got better).

I have discovered that those symptoms likely had nothing to do with my infusions, but I'm sure you feel that way already because of your anemia. Usually skin involvement is the first symptom but I have more of less skipped that part & gone right to organ involvement - esophagus motility, gerd and intestinal inflammation as well as some beginning pulmonary lung tissue hardening. When I started supplementing with iron, there was a dramatic improvement to how I felt - within 30 minutes of eating beef washed down with iron water, I suddenly got restored circulation in my toes which started to hurt as they warmed up again. This is called iron deficiency and iron supplements and change in diet can boost your ferritin levels.I woke up the next morning feeling not just okay, but happy. Your ferritin level may have been increased because of your inflamation.Of course, I feel low, I don't feel particularly well a lot of the time.My serum ferritin was 19, but this test was done on a day when I had swollen finger joints and then my whole immune system went into overdrive and I had to calm it down with antihistamine; does that mean my true level could be even lower? But low ferritin and normal hemoglobin doesn't match with anything. I'm at my wits end with my doctor, who just wants to give me anti-depressants. Sun, March 13, 2011 @ PM I also have low ferritin with a normal hemoglobin.I believe I have anemia, but my blood work doesn't make sense. My main symptom is feeling cold, and it has got to the point where the circulation to my toes and fingers is cut off in response. She said to start iron supplements again but (again) had no explanation as to WHY this keeps happening - she even said to me that "extreme fatigue is not caused by low iron levels". SHE HAS MORE ENERGY THAN A PUPPY 3 WEEKS OLD........... Tue, May 10, 2011 @ PM Update -- took an ambulance ride to ER last Thu. For the past few days I have been in tears and feeling completely helpless. My iron and ferritin were really low and I felt what you are describing.I think this is an unacceptable answer & is mainly because she is as frustrated at this as I am but I'm done with this being a "patient" patient. Also, if you have any other advice for me regarding how to deal with this horrible fatigue - any type foods (I don't eat much red meat because it kills my stomach) but am not a vegetarian either. BESIDES WORKING OUT AT A GYM 3 TIMES A WEEK, SHE WALKS THE DOG TWICE DAILY, CLEANS HOUSE , COOKS AND SHOPS LIKE THERE IS NO TOMORROW...... Had to get 2 units blood, spent a night in the hospital. That internal shaky feeling that made me think I was having constant anxiety (went away as my numbers got better).Morph to Jan 2009 when I woke up feeling like the truck that hit me in 2000 had backed up over me again.Since then it's been one thing after another including (finally) extremely low ferritin, B12 & D levels BUT with all other blood work being within the "norms".
