I decided I was going to paint my bathroom floors way back in 2014 when I was making over my space for the One Room Challenge but the stenciling of the bathroom walls took so long that I ran out of time to do it before my big reveal.Somehow THREE full years went by with me giving the stink eye to those floors every time I used the bathroom but doing nothing about it.

Updating old bathroom tile

I know, I’m a pretty brave DIY’er but I was (secretly) a little nervous how it would turn out. I’m not a black decor lover typically so going for black was a little out of my league BUT I do love classic basics and think it’s the perfect base in there. Our little farmhouse has been a rental property for 30 years so it’s had basic grade everything.I’m definitely not a perfectionist, they came out pretty clean and crisp without wiping off the back of the stencil in between. The stencil dries really fast since it’s a small amount of paint. It’s also a good way to camouflage potential future scratches or nicks.I rolled on 3 coats of Minwax Polyacrylic to seal it. A super affordable way to update your flooring without spending thousands of dollars. Please pin so your friends can paint some tile too!Do you ever have a project that ended up being so much easier than you expected that you’re kicking yourself for procrastinating so long to do it?Painting the ceramic tile floors in our first floor bathroom was one of those projects for me!Well I finally knocked this little DIY project out and it was so cheap and easy. Welcome to my its-five-hundred-times-better-than-those-ugly-reddish-floors-were bathroom! Such a HUGE improvement over the reddish tile, right?!And believe it or not, the ugly color wasn’t even the worst thing about the old tile floors.I didn’t want to try to line it up a second time and have it smudge. We’ve worked with stencils a lot, they’re pretty forgiving.
